Judaism: Principles and Practice Summary
Summary
This professional learning program provides CESA teachers with a lived-experience understanding of Judaism. It focuses on beliefs, rituals, ethical principles, synagogue worship, and contemporary issues such as antisemitism. Teachers will build confidence to teach Judaism accurately, inclusively, and respectfully, through a Progressive Jewish perspective.
Objectives
Understand Jewish beliefs, rituals, festivals, and ethics.
Experience synagogue worship and sacred spaces.
Explore Jewish ethical teachings and social justice perspectives.
Recognise antisemitism and respond appropriately in educational contexts.
Apply inclusive teaching strategies in classroom practice.
Dates and Times
School Specific (Whole Staff PD)
The dates and times of these sessions will be confirmed in consultation with the school.
Option 1: One 6-hr full-day at Synagogue.
Option 2: Two 3-hr sessions:
◦ Day 1 at synagogue.
◦ Day 2 at school.

7pm - 9pm on Consecutive weeks
